Boost productivity

We think using multiple monitors is a great way to improve staff productivity. Here’s why…

Increased productivity
The biggest advantage for anyone is an increase in productivity.
There have been a number of studies performed over the years that have attempted to calculate the change in productivity from using multiple monitors. According to a study done by the Jon Peddie Research, productivity increases an average of 42% when using multiple displays.
The Pfeiffer Report from 2005 (testing the impact of large monitors and/or multiple monitors) found that improved productivity could result in an ROI of several thousand dollars per year.

Multitasking
Many workplaces have some type of workflow that would benefit from using multiple programs at any given time. Maybe you’re flipping back and forth between Firefox and MS Word, or perhaps Outlook and Excel. Whatever the case may be, it’s very rare that today’s modern worker would only have one program open and would not be moving around at least periodically. Since using multiple programs is such a frequent occurrence for most of us today, having a second screen can reduce or eliminate this juggling act and make our day more productive.

Data sharing
Sharing data is also very common. For example, when using multiple monitors, the process of copying product details from one application to another, or opening a document to refer to whilst creating a response to an email is made a lot more efficient and streamlined. You will experience the biggest benefit when working on large spread sheets, as it becomes possible to stretch the spreadsheet across the entire viewable area. Moreover, moving from one screen to the next is often easier than using multiple applications on one screen.

Why not just use a bigger screen?
If you are using a 20” widescreen, the typical resolution is 1680×1050. Upgrading to a 24” widescreen with a typical resolution of 1980×1080 will only give you an additional 21% of screen space to use, whereas adding a second monitor of the same original size will increase the total area by double.

I use a laptop. Can I still have a second screen?
Most laptops will have the ability to output to a monitor or projector. In addition, you can still utilise a dual screen set up whilst having the flexibly to just easily disconnect the second monitor and take the laptop wherever you need to go. Setting it up is as simple as plugging in the monitor cable and pressing the shortcut button on the keyboard.
